Helena Lindholm’s tenure as pro-vice-chancellor of the University of Gothenburg expires on the 30th of June 2017. The process of appointing a new pro-vice-chancellor has already begun.
When the vice-chancellor is away, the pro-vice-chancellor acts as his or her stand-in. The pro-vice-chancellor also replaces the vice-chancellor to any extent decided by this latter.
To be qualified to act as the vice-chancellor’s stand-in, the requirements for appointment as a professor or senior lecturer must be satisfied.
It is the University Board that decides on the appointment of a pro-vice-chancellor.
The pro-vice-chancellor’s mandate runs for the same period as that of the vice-chancellor.
To lead the pro-vice-chancellor recruitment process that it has decided on, the University Board has appointed a preparatory group. The preparatory group includes:
• Cecilia Schelin Seidegård (chair, general interest representative).
• Eva Halvarsson (general interest representative).
• Staffan I Lindberg (teacher representative).
• Agnes Wold (teacher representative).
• Malin Podlevskikh Carlström (student representative).
• Love Josefsson (student representatives).
• Catrine Folcker (HR representative).
The requirements profile for the pro-vice-chancellor has to complement the new vice-chancellor’s strengths and be adopted by a decision of the chair. You can find the requirements profile here.
Interest in the post of pro-vice-chancellor is signalled via the submission of applications or the nomination of candidates.
Before the University Board takes a decision, the consultative assembly must have the opportunity to submit its opinions on the candidate(s) put forward by the preparatory group.
Read more about the consultative assembly and the dates on which it meets.
Appointment of a new pro-vice-chancellor will be in consultation with the incoming vice-chancellor. A pro-vice-chancellor is a vice-chancellor’s nearest colleague. This is why a good climate of collaboration and consensus on the University’s development are important.
